Jai Jawan Jai Kisan

They keep the country safe by protecting the border
They cultivate the lands and provide us the fodder
Hence, we enjoy our freedom and have sufficient food
They live in barracks, forests or trenches
They live in huts, mud houses or open fields
We live in good houses, flats, bungalows or palaces
They eat anything that kills the pangs of hunger
They eat only if available or have to go on a fast
We have vegan, non-Veg and fast food to feast
They long for their loved ones and risk their lives
They work hard day and night to harvest the crops
We earn but also enjoy vacations and socialize
They receive medals or posthumous recognition
They survive if it rains or are forced to commit suicide
We amass wealth locally and in Swiss banks too
The above are the difference between
Those who defend or cultivate our soil
and those who live and enjoy the fruits of their toil
Do we contribute anything to make their lives easy

or just keep saying the slogan
