Phir Bhi DIL (Daughter-in-Law) Ho Hindustani
Hello and As Salamualaykum!
It is pathetic that the disease of dowry system not only exists locally but is also spread globally. NRIs too have a big tag price. They uphold the traditions by marrying a girl from the home country but also follow the tradition of dowry system. No matter where we are settled whether in U.S., Canada, U.K. or Australia our mindset is the same.
I would like to address the issue of “Dowry System” which is the mother of all evils in our Society by my articles, poems, and even songs:
Hum Logon ko, shaadi mein tho
Hum Logon ko, shaadi mein tho nahin koi pareshani
Jitna bhi hum chaahen utna jahez milega aasani
Hum Logon ko, shaadi mein tho nahin koi pareshani
Jitna bhi hum chaahen utna jahez milega aasani
Apni chokri tum dedo tho nahin isme koi naadani
Canada, U.K. U.S. ki to sabhyata hai Englistani
Phir bhi DIL Ho Hindustani,
Phir bhi DIL Ho Hindustani,
Phir bhi DIL Ho Hindustani,
Phir bhi DIL Ho Hindustani,
Thode Ameer hain, bakhi shikari
Ladki waalon pe ye hote hain bhari
Thode Ameer hain, bakhi shikari
Ladki waalon pe ye hote hain bhari
Unhe jahez chahiye
Aur Rupye bhi
Ye lootte aise hi hain
Aur hain jhoote vaise bhi
Hum Logon ko, shaadi mein tho nahin koi pareshani
Jaise bhi ho jahez tho dedo ab kaisi kheencha taani
Thodi jayedad rupya tho hai
Thodi rakhm bank se hai laani
Thodi thum engagement mein dedo
Thodi shaadi par hai chukani
Canada, U.K. U.S. ki to sabhyata hai Englistani
Phir bhi DIL Ho Hindustani,
Phir bhi DIL Ho Hindustani,
Phir bhi DIL Ho Hindustani,
Phir bhi DIL Ho Hindustani,
Apna beta bada Engineer hai
Aur wo kamaata bhi six figure hai
Apna beta bada Engineer hai
Aur wo kamaata bhi six figure hai
DIL dekha hai, poocha to nahin hai
Jahez ka laalach choota to nahin hai
Hum Logon ko, shaadi mein tho nahin koi pareshani
Jo bhi majboori hogi par humko nahin sunaani
Humre bête ki shaadi mein dhoom hai humko machani
Canada, U.K. U.S. ki to sabhyata hai Englistani
Phir bhi DIL Ho Hindustani,
Phir bhi DIL Ho Hindustani,
Phir bhi DIL Ho Hindustani,
Phir bhi DIL Ho Hindustani,

A nice satirical use of the song, Unfortunate part is that somewhere girls’s parents too encourage this vice, leave alone boy’s side.
Padhe likhe bete ka jo baap ho gaya
Lakhpati apne hi aap ho gaya.
Thank you Meenakshi. This is very much true. On one side the Society is struggling to address this evil dowry system and on the other hand the girl’s parents are also part of this crime. I hope they desist from being a partner to the crime that has debilated the Society.
Nice composition on Dowry system giving a great message to all parents demand for a dowry.

Thank you Rupali for your kind comments and hope parents realize that this evil system is responsible for many other evils in the Society and needs to be eliminated.
The purpose of life for many parents is just to get their daughters married and they spend their best years worrying about dowry and the fate of their daughter post-marriage.
Wow… Nicely said… The use of the song is so apt, I mean making the parody of that song, Beautifully done and right to the point. Kudos!!

Thank you so much Ankita for your comments and that you enjoyed the parody. Do keep coming for.
Lolz… I agree but there are exceptions. Yaha to bete ki shadi mein paise loot rahe hai. Apart from dowry system, my problem is this whole lavish procedures esp of Marwadi weddings.
BTW aajkal DIL kam nahi hai ;P

Ekta, Thank you so much for dropping by. Yes, there are extreme dowry practices in different Societies. In the Middle East, a girl wouldn’t be ready to marry unless her would-be is ready to pay a dowry that she wants. Secondly, he should have a car that is one of the best models. He should have his own house or should be able to rent-out a separate apartment. He should have maid-servants and a chauffeur. Many are finding it difficult to comply with all these demands by the girl and her parents. On the other hand, we have a totally opposite situation in the Asian Countries where the girl and her parents have to bear all the burden. In Islam, it is the responsibility of the Bridegroom and his parents to pay dowry (bridal gift).
Parents who demand dowry for their sons are treating their own flesh and blood as investments.
Thanks for dropping by Purba. Very true! making wedding a commercial transaction is the worst thing that a parent can do to their children.
You have portrayed one of the growing concern of today’s population with a well versed poetry…good one…!!!
Thank you Anjan for dropping by and yes this is one of the biggest concerns in our Society that needs to be redressed on a war footing basis.
Whatever said and written against the dowry system, the practice seems to be increasing and flourishing.
Its true that it is increasing and flourishing but doing nothing about it is also a crime. All of us need to address this issue in whatever manner we could so that more and more awareness is spread in the Society.
sahi aur sateek
What a nice way to portray a satire, loved your modified version of the original song.
